Smart Lab Carinthia

Science & Energy Labs in Villach

At the end of June 2010, the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences made a quantum leap with the opening of the new laboratory center on the Villach campus. A former production hall offered the opportunity to set up the necessary laboratory facilities. With a space of 1600 m2 and the option of further expansion, the “Science and Energy Labs” are among the largest and best-equipped laboratories in southern Austria.

For one thing, the labs are currently used by the Civil Engineering and Architecture departments, with the research focus of “Material, Design, and Construction” for the development of new material technologies, as well as for constructive progress and structural physics tests.

On the other hand, students in “Bionics” and “Electrical Energy and Mobility Systems” R&D work on future-oriented and sustainable technologies such as e-mobility and solar energy.

Ideas need space, tools, and engaged people

The smart lab CARINTHIA in Villach doesn’t only offer physical infrastructure, it also offers the machines needed to turn one’s own ideas into reality. The smart lab allows free access to production machines such as 3D printers and scanners, a laser cutter, a cutting plotter, a CNC milling machine, an electronics workstation, and suitable design and construction software. In this way, you can turn your own ideas into reality and make the most diverse types of products according to individual requirements.

In order to make it as easy as possible to operate and use the machines, personal training courses and expert consultations will be offered in the labs.

Advance registration is requested.
