Silicon Austria Labs

Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) is a center of research excellence for electronic based systems (EBS). The application-based center was founded in 2018 and offers cooperative research at three locations - in Graz, Linz, and Villach.

Research is done in the areas of sensor systems, power electronics, RF systems, system integration technologies, and embedded systems, to find forward-looking solutions for environmental protection, health, energy, mobility, and security.

In addition to numerous highly equipped laboratories that are available for this research in Villach (a metrology lab, an environmental lab, and an optics lab, among others), there is an ISO class 5 cleanroom for the processing of chips and wafers, as well as the newest packaging technology.
