In 2022 a new preschool will open in tpv. Its associated “mini educational lab”, a research laboratory for children, will be unique in Austria.

Last year, the City of Villach launched a preschool campaign. In the coming years, space for more children in several of the city’s preschools should be created. Among them is a new preschool in Technology Park Villach, which will have four groups. The City intends to start construction in the coming year.

With the construction of the preschool and the mini lab we are further enhancing Villach as a center of education.

A feature of the preschool which is unique in Austria is the inclusion of a “mini educational lab”: this is a research facility that is tailored to the needs of 3 to 6 year olds, and which will be available to interested preschool groups from throughout Carinthia. “Technology Park Villach tpv is a center for technology, research, and innovation with a total of around 700 jobs. With the construction of the preschool and the creation of the mini research laboratory, we are further improving and strengthening the learning environment for our children,” says Mayor Günther Albel.

NEW PROCESS EASES THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECTS

“Kids are natural-born explorers. The new mini educational lab will support their competence in the so-called “MINT” subjects of math, IT, natural sciences, and technology, as well as encourage their innate curiosity and love of discovery, in a playful way,” says Education Officer and Deputy Mayor Irene Hochstetter-Lackner. Over the course of construction, the City of Villach will use a particular method for the implementation of the project: the entire process will first be modeled using the BIM (Building Information Modeling) method. The biggest advantage of this method is that all aspects of the building project will be linked digitally in one model, and so all steps of the building process are transparent and clear for everyone involved, and can be easily called up.

The Carinthia University of Applied Sciences will provide scientific support for the implementation of the construction using the BIM method. The project has been submitted for funding by the Carinthian Economic Development Fund.

FIRST STEPS IN THE CAMPAIGN HAVE ALREADY HAPPENED

Many other new preschool groups and spots are also being created as part of the preschool campaign. Very positive: the first improvements have already happened, including a new daycare group that opened in Fellach last year and three new groups, including one daycare group, on Schillerstraße.
